19. San Marco Bastion

The San Marco Bastion in Peschiera del Garda still stands today with its military engineering structures in perfect condition.

It is one of the most impressive elements of the fortress of Peschiera del Garda. Built in 1553, it is considered the second most important bastion of the Venetian pentagonal fortress.

Despite the centuries that have passed, it still retains its technical military structures, precise and fully functional.
Walking along the curtain wall of the San Marco Bastion, the upper edge of the fortifications, offers a scenic and evocative promenade.

From this elevated position, it’s possible to overlook the entire eastern front of the fortress, an area that was once crucial for its military defense.

Every attack suffered by Peschiera del Garda has left its mark on these historic walls.
