Porta Brescia – Brescia Gate. We recommend beginning your visit from the parking lot west of the fortress, near the Brescia Gate.

Porta Brescia, also called “country gate”, was the access to the fortress. Its very simple and compact architecture is typical of constructions for military defence. The impressive 16th century bastion, protected by the moat which together with the three other canals surround the fortress, can already be seen from here.

From here, after passing the bridge, designed by Anton Maria Lorna in 1760, we go through the old centre of the town, reaching Piazza San Marco.
